Nwachukwu, Oluwafemiayo Win Gold AsThey Set New World Records
Nigeria’s Nwachukwu Goodness and Folashade Oluwafemiayo have claimed a gold medal for Nigeria at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK.
Nwachukwu also set a world record with her throw in women’s para discus of 36.56m while Folashade won gold in heavyweight powerlifting.

Oluwafemiayo lifted a series of 130kg, 150kg and 55kg to score a cumulative 123.4 points, to win yet another gold medal for Nigeria. While also at the 2022 commonwealth compatriot, Bose Omolayo finished second behind Oluwafemi after lifting 145kg and scored 115.2 points. The bronze medal went to Hani Watson from Australia.
Meanwhile in the men’s lightweight para powerlifting, Nnamdi Innocent clinched a bronze medal for Nigeria.

The Nigerian lifted 132.5kg while Gustin Bonnie Bunyau of Malaysia secured the gold medal with a lift of 154.6kg and England’s Swan Mark took the silver medal.
