English Premier League is set to continue after the European competition resumed at the midweek. All of the English football representatives gave a good showing of themselves with impressive wins across the board. However, the EPL Matchday 26 resumes as Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea all continue to battle to become champions of the 2021/2022 campaign.

The Cityzen are currently top the table with 9 points while the second place, Liverpool trail them by 9 although with a game in hand. While the blues sit in 3rd position but would have to put out their best not to further drop points.

Fixtures, Preview, and Predictions for Matchday 26 of EPL;

Saturday 19th February 2022.

Westham vs Newcastle(13:00): Newcastle won’t be sitting comfortably on their four-point cushion to the relegation zone, though a trip to East London does at least provide the opportunity for the travelling Geordie contingent to witness a second successive PL away victory. Aside from the obvious headline news currently swirling around West Ham United, their UEFA Champions League push appears to be slowing up, with just one win from their last four Premier League outings (D1, L2).

Prediction: 2-0

Arsenal vs Brentford(16:00): The Gunners boosted their top-four chances with a resolute 1-0 win at Wolves last time out despite suffering their 15th red card under Mikel Arteta’s tenure. The Bees has had an Achilles’ heel for Brentford this season, who’ve conceded first in a joint-league high 17 league games, subsequently resulting in being behind at the break on a league-worst 12 occasions.

Prediction: 2-0

Aston Villa vs Watford(16:00): Villa has actually lost only one of their last nine home league games against Watford (W6, D2), meaning this could be the perfect fixture for them to bounce back meanwhile Watford hasn’t kept a clean sheet for a very long time.

Prediction: 0-0

Brighton vs Burnley(16:00): Seven points from safety ahead of the round, Burnley are one of just two sides in the top four tiers of English football without an away league win this season (D5, L6). Whilst claiming their first road success of the season at Brighton might be a tall order, the ‘Clarets’ are unbeaten here in five (W1, D4).

Prediction: 1-0

Matchday 26: Fixtures And Predictions

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea(16:00): Third in the table ahead of kick-off, Chelsea are neither snapping at the heels of the top two nor immediately threatened by those behinds, but Thomas Tuchel’s side has won just one of their last five PL away matches (D2, L2). That’s one weakness to work on how he can lead from the touchline again after a spell away due to Covid.

Prediction: 1-3

Liverpool vs Norwich(16:00): On home soil, the second-placed ‘Reds’ have been rampant, winning their last six PL home matches whilst conceding only once and enjoying a half-time lead on five occasions. A visit from relegation-threatened Norwich should ensure that momentum continues as Liverpool have lost only one home PL H2H against the visitors (W6, D2), scoring 4+ goals in three of Norwich’s last four visits.

Prediction: 4-1

Matchday 26: Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea The Battle For Top Spot Reignite

Southampton vs Everton(16:00): An impressive 3-0 win over Leeds United made it two wins from three in charge (L1) for new Everton boss Frank Lampard. Mid-table Southampton followed up an impressive 1-1 home draw against Premier League (PL) leaders Manchester City with a solid four points from consecutive tough away trips to Tottenham (3-2) and Manchester United (1-1).

Prediction: 1-1

Manchester City vs Tottenham(18:30): Losing 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur on the opening day of the season seems like a distant memory for the ‘Cityzens’, especially after winning 14 of their last 15 league games (D1). Tottenham side has conceded more goals in three consecutive PL defeats (seven) than they did in the first nine league games under his leadership (six). Another defeat here would also represent Spurs’ first run of 4+ PL defeats since 2004/05

Prediction: 3-1

Sunday 20th February 2022.

Leeds vs Manchester United(15:00): The first goal of 2022 for Cristiano Ronaldo in the midweek victory could mark a timely return to form ahead of the trip to Elland Road. With a relegation battle still not out of the question, Leeds needs to start winning home games, but with one clean sheet in their last seven PL games here, manager Marcelo Bielsa might need to tweak his all-out attack approach to get something out of this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Wolves vs Leicester(17:00): Following a treacherous week of storms in England, Wolves will look to rain down some perilous attacks on Leicester City to try and improve. Stuck in the mid-table mire, boss Brendan Rodgers has already said that the aim is just to finish as high as possible while he ‘smiles and enjoys it’.

Prediction: 2-1

Matchday 26 will definitely be an excitedly weekend to look out for.
